Family Coaching, Counseling, and Support
Ruben's speciality is working with families. When you invite Ruben to work with you or your family, it means you recognize that there are patterns, habits, attitudes, and choices in your life that need to change. This can be a difficult, even intense, process. Often, you can't do it alone—but you CAN do it with experienced guidance.
Ruben works intimately and directly, often visiting your home for a Family Intensive lasting up to 5 days. These home visits create a very powerful opportunity to identify dysfunction and begin to create more healthy habits and relationships, leading to a better home environment for everyone. Follow-up support is available via telephone coaching and/or follow-up visits.

Wilderness Therapy Support
If you have a child in a wilderness therapy program—or if you're considering sending your child to such a program—you should consider seeking additional support either during the time that your child is away, or for the important days and weeks after he or she returns home. You may also want to consider potential alternatives to Wilderness Therapy.
Having worked as a Wilderness Therapist for many years, Ruben understands how powerful the wilderness experience can be. It can also be stressful for the family back home. The child often undergoes a profound and positive change... but can then return home to the same family and social environment, which can cause disruptions to the family as well as backtracking in the child.
In order to help the change stick, it's a good idea to follow up with a counselor that understands both the wilderness experience and the important family dynamics that will affect the long-term success of the program.

Individual Coaching, Counseling, and Support
Sometimes family issues aren't at the forefront of your problems. Or it could be that your family is away or otherwise unavailable. Ruben also coaches individuals outside of the family context. Drawing on his background as a Wilderness Therapist, he'll get you out of the office and into the great outdoors. This could involve hiking, outings, or even riding motorcycles together—"moto-therapy."
If something about just sitting on a couch and talking to a therapist doesn't appeal to you, and you feel you need to try something a little different, contact us. We'll still talk deeply, but we'll also shake things up a little and do things that you wouldn't typically expect in "therapy".
